Google Introduces Direct Food Ordering from Search Results

Google is introducing a new feature to Search, Maps, and Assistant that enables users to order from local restaurants.

Orders are powered by services such as DoorDash, Postmates, Delivery.com, Slice, ChowNow, and more that will be available in the near future.

These service providers have partnered with Google, allowing orders to be completed without leaving the search results.

Simply press the “Order Now” button, make your choices, and use Google Pay to complete the transaction.

Alternatively, you can order using Google Assistant by saying, “Hey Google, order food from [restaurant].”

Once you’ve placed an order, you can easily reorder the same items next time with the command “Hey Google, reorder food from [restaurant].”

Previously, Google’s search results provided links to food delivery services when users looked up a restaurant or type of food. Clicking one of these links required users to open or download another app. Now, they can search for and complete orders all within the same platform.

This update is being rolled out to Search, Maps, and Assistant starting today.
